About Heritage Greece
Join us for an unforgettable educational journey to connect with your Greek heritage!
The Heritage Greece Program is made possible by a generous gift from the National Hellenic Society to selected Greek-American students as part of its mission to celebrate and preserve Greek heritage in the United States.
This National Hellenic Society educational program uses experiential learning to help undergraduate college-aged, Greek-American students explore contemporary Greece and redefine their Greek identity. The entire program is offered to selected students through the support of the NHS. The only cost to students is round trip airfare from the USA to Athens. Students will depart together from Washington, DC on June 13, 2013. A pre-departure orientation and stay in Washington, D.C. on June 12, 2013 launches the program. The NHS will secure competitive roundtrip airfare to and from Athens and students will be responsible for bearing the expense of $1,000 airfare travel to and from Greece, as well as their airfare to Washington, D.C.
All other expenses are underwritten by a generous donation by the NHS.
The Heritage Greece Program is delivered by DEREE – The American College of Greece located in Athens, Greece. Participants will visit urban spaces where they will interact in the local community, go to important archaeological and cultural sites, observe business in action at a successful Greek company and travel to a traditional village on an island.
To enrich participants’ learning experience, selected Greek DEREE students will facilitate their communication with locals in Athens and elsewhere. The journey starts in June.
