Swimming Pool
A heated, Olympic size, 50 x 21 meter, eight lane swimming pool is situated in a picturesque location snuggled in the mountain overlooking the soccer field, Aghia Paraskevi, and part of Athens. During the colder months the pool is enclosed by an air-supported covering which keeps air and water temperatures user friendly.
The pool facility is used recreationally on a "shared use" basis with Pierce College and DEREE academic and non-credit classes. The locker rooms have recently been renovated allowing for separate locker/shower rooms for PIERCE men and women and for DEREE men and women. It is very inviting indeed with a life guard schedule whenever the facility is open for safety and to help with exercise programs and swimming techniques.
Newly renovated locker/shower rooms, with separate areas for each Pierce College and Deree College students and Alumni participating in the ACG Fitness Program allow the Aquatic Facility to be used on a shared use basis for classes, athletics, recreation, and leisure.
Some of the popular activities include fitness and swimming classes, varsity and shoot around water polo, lap swimming, teachers meet their classes and student organizations meet under the umbrellas, special activities such as the Student Government sponsored “Dive-in Movie”, water basketball and volleyball, snorkeling, skin diving and scuba, youth summer camp, lounging, sunbathing, and tanning to gain that gorgeous glow with out burning.
Short course: The swimming pool is normally set up short course style (lanes going across the width) to allow for more activities and classes to take place at the same time.
