THE BIOLOGY CLUB
The purpose of the Biology Club is to actively present issues of scientific relevance to the students in which students will research and, in most cases, give presentations to other interested students. The Biology Club discusses interesting and debatable scientific issues and participates in programs such as Health Week, Wellness Experience and Psychology Week seminars. The Club also visits hospitals research centers, exhibitions and museums. The future of the Club is its members and their desire to pursue the goals of the Club. Students of all majors may participate.
OUR MISSION
The Biology Club´s mission is:
- to promote awareness of scientific issues and concerns to the DEREE community.
- to encourage student participation in activities of the Health Week, Wellness Experience and the Psychology Week seminars.
- to visit hospitals and research centers, exhibitions and museums.
- to invite distinguished speakers to talk about scientific and health issues.
- to help students appreciate the unity and diversity of life.
- to support the effort in establishing DEREE as a green campus.

When do we meet?
The club meets seven to ten times a semester in a formal setting, to include introduction of new students, form the governing body, and discuss potential upcoming events, as well as organize and advertise the club.

Recent Activities
- The Biology club invited the college community to a lecture on “Epigenetics” The Hidden DNA Code by Dr. Paraskevi Papadopoulou, biophysicist, cellular biologist, on October 26, 2009.
- The Biology club helped to organize the biology lab exhibit on contraception, sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS on December 3, 2009 and December 4, 2009 from in the biology lab room 615,
- “Home”: Screening of the documentary on planet Earth, February 4 & 5, 2010.
- The Biology Club had an active day participation in the event Wellness experience 2010 “Campaign For Living Tobacco-Free” and with the exhibit “GMOs are they Affecting you?”
- The Biology Club participated in the May Fest 2010 activities
- The Biology club helped organize the Biology lab exhibit on contraception, sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS on May 27 & 28, 2010 in the biology lab room 615.
