DEREE offers a thorough fitness program which incorporates a wide range of services.

FITNESS SERVICES

DEREE provides students, faculty, and staff with an all-inclusive, state-of-the-art Fitness Center that caters to their physical fitness needs regardless of fitness level or experience. Fitness training can enhance your physical fitness and psychological well-being and in general improve the quality of your life. Our objective is to assist every individual in reaching their health and fitness goals by first determining their fitness level and then preparing a workout regimen tailored to their specific needs. We are committed to the highest level of professionalism, quality, safety and effectiveness in providing you with fitness services.

The five major areas of fitness services include:

FITNESS CENTER

The Fitness Center is located on the lower level of the Gym and provides the following equipment:

Muscular:

  • 14 Cybex Eagle Selectorized machines. These resistance machines are ideal for beginners, isolation exercises and injury rehabilitation
  • 1 Smith Machine (Cybex)- Weight training equipment for various exercises. For beginners and advanced athletes
  • 1 Heavy duty Leg Press-Plate loaded (Hummer Strength) - Weight training equipment for leg exercises
  • 4 Free weight stations (Cybex)
  • 900 KG of free weights in plates
  • 1 Olympic heavy duty half rack (Power Lift) - Multi use-weight training equipment
  • 1 Olympic heavy duty power rack (Power Lift) - Multi use-weight training equipment
  • 1 complete heavy duty dumbbell collection 5lb.-100lb. (Iron grip)
  • Complete collection of equipment for calisthenics
  • Technogym LAT machine- Weight training machine for back exercises
  • Complete collection of fitness training accessorial equipment- Fitballs, medicine balls, exercise bands, step platforms

Cardiovascular:

  • 1 LifeFitness treadmill (model 97ti)
  • 3 LifeFitness treadmills (model 95 ti)
  • 2 Cybex Trotter treadmills
  • 2 Precor EFX elliptical cross trainers- Cardio workout simulating running action without the impact
  • 1 LifeFitness elliptical cross trainer (model 95XI)- New model with the addition of arm movement
  • 2 Concept II rowing ergometers - Simulating the act of rowing for a total body workout
  • 8 LifeFitness -Le Mond spinning bikes- Upright bicycles
  • 1 Monark Ergomedic 824E  Ergometry Cycle- An exercise bike used for fitness testing
  • 1 Cybex recumbent bike (Cyclone)- Seated bicycle that provides back support

It is recommended that you receive clearance from you physician before beginning an exercise program.

Fitness services are free of charge and are open to the DEREE community. You are encouraged to take advantage of these services and take control of your physical wellbeing.

Aqua Aerobics

A low impact workout which can be enjoyed by practically anyone regardless of fitness level, body mass index, age, and health conditions since the buoyancy of water supports 90 percent of the body.

Argentine Tango

This class will introduce you to basic Tango techniques incorporated in a pleasurable workout, which will strengthen your abdomen and leg muscles as well as enhance your posture and balance.

Cardio-Latin

An integration of challenging muscle toning exercises and vigorous Latin dance routines in a fun, friendly, and enthusiastic atmosphere.

Cardio Mix

This class is designed to improve your cardiovascular capacity and muscular endurance through an intense aerobic workout.

C.I.P. (Cardio-Iron-Pilates)

This all-inclusive group fitness class aims to build cardiovascular capacity through an intense aerobic workout, to improve muscle strength-toning through resistance training, and to enhance posture-balance and flexibility through pilates. 

Circuit Training:

An efficient and challenging form of conditioning which develops strength, aerobic/anaerobic endurance, flexibility, and coordination by adopting the principles of circuit training.

Core & Thighs:

A workout focused on toning abdominal, leg, and lower back muscles, combined with an aerobic warm-up and deep stretching both before and after the workout.

Dumba-Dumba

This class is a fusion of Latin and International dance routines that utilizes interval training in combination with resistance training to maximize caloric expenditure, fat burning, and muscle toning.

Pilates

A class, which will utilize basic pilates exercises to help strengthen and tone core muscles while improving posture, flexibility and balance by using controlled breathing and mindful movement.

Self-Defense for Ladies

This class aims to build ladies’ confidence by teaching the core principles of martial arts and by demonstrating simple and practical self-defense techniques in a relaxed “strictly-for-women” environment. 

Total Body

A workout that enhances total body muscular strength by the use of light resistance training combined with a pleasant musical background. 

Yoga

This class utilizes specific postures, breathing techniques and relaxation to develop muscular strength, flexibility and body awareness.

Yogalates

This upbeat class combines Yoga and Pilates to strengthen and tone core muscles as well as improve flexibility, posture, balance, and body awareness.
