I would have to say that studying abroad in Greece was the best decision I have made so far in my college career. My only regret is that I didn't go earlier; if I had I would have spent more than one semester abroad. Cheesy as it may sound, as an art history minor it was a dream come true to be surrounded by ancient architecture and to live in a country with some of the best museums around. My three and a half months in Greece seemed to fly by. I met some wonderful friends and was even able to travel to two other countries. I have a new found love for Greek cuisine and of course baklava, but they don't make it quite the same in the States. So, I guess I'll just have to make my way back to Greece, hopefully soon.”

Key Steps to Study Abroad at DEREE

1. Complete your Application
We've made applying to The American College of Greece easy. Simply complete our online application at the myACG portal and submit the required application documents. Be sure to talk to your study abroad office at your home institution during this process.

2. Apply for a Student Visa
See our student visa application instructions - which include a list of the required documents – and send all required documents for your visa approval letter.

All documents must be submitted to ACG for the visa approval letter at least eight weeks prior to the semester in which you are planning to enroll. You should start the visa process in your country at least 10 - 12 weeks prior to the semester you are planning to enroll.

When all documents have been received, the College will obtain approval for a visa on your behalf. Once approved, we'll send you the paperwork and then you will need to pick up your visa from your local Greek Consulate in the United States.

3. Select Your Housing
Study abroad students live in College-owned housing within walking distance of the campus. The study abroad comprehensive fee includes a double bedroom shared with another student. However, you can choose to upgrade to a single bedroom or studio apartment for an additional fee.

4. Pre-register for Courses
After you send your deposit and visa documents, we'll send you a Course Registration Form. In the meantime, you should work with your advisor at your home institution to ensure that the courses you wish to take at ACG are approved for transfer back to your institution. Please refer to our complete course listing and course descriptions as you and your advisor make your course selections.

5. Come on Over!
We will have scheduled drivers pick you up from the Athens airport on move-in dates. So, please provide us with your flight information if you would like to be picked up from the airport.

6. Participate in Orientation
Join us for our required orientation program, including an introduction to the College, student life and academics. We'll go over areas unique to international students that will help you make a smooth transition to your new setting. You'll also have the opportunity to tour our beautiful campus and meet other international and Greek students. See you there!

7. Make Friends, Explore and Learn!
