MUSIC SOCIETY

DEREE students who have declared the Music major or the Music minor are eligible to become voting members and participate in Music Society’s activities.

Purpose of the Music Society

  • Encourage the development of personal leadership and collaborative skills in the planning and implementation of academic and performance related events
  • Offer DEREE students opportunities for personal expression and development through the participation in extra-curricular music making 
  • Facilitate communication between students, faculty and administration.

Society Events
The Music Society in collaboration with the Music Area plan and participate in various types of activities and events in including student performances, Music Week lectures and master classes, guest speakers, and educational/cultural excursions.

Meeting Times
The Music Society usually meets during DEREE Activity Hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1:40 and 2:55.

Music Forum
In addition, any student interested in the Music Society or music performance is welcome to attend the Music Forum Performance Lab which meets every Friday afternoon at 4:00. Music students gain practical performance experience through preparation and performance of works for the weekly Music Forum.
