DEREE and UC Davis Sign Cooperation Agreement
DEREE – The American College of Greece and the University of California at Davis have signed a memorandum of understanding that will lead to cooperation between the two institutions in the areas of program development as well as student and faculty exchanges. Each institution brings its own unique advantages and perspective into this cooperation. UC Davis – part of the University of California system – is one of the largest and best public institutions of higher education in the United States, serving over 31,000 students. .

The memorandum was negotiated on behalf of DEREE by Dr. Todd G. Fritch, the College’s vice president of Academic Affairs.
Last week, Chancellor Linda P. B. Katehi of UC Davis, a native of Greece who has had a stellar career in academic administration in the US, was in Athens to meet with UC students who participated in a study abroad program in Greece, as well as with UC Davis alumni who live in the greater Athens area. The reception was hosted at ACG’s neoclassical building in Plaka.
While in Athens, Dr. Katehi met with ACG President, Dr. David G. Horner. During the meeting the two discussed various aspects of the cooperation between the two institutions.
Dr. Katehi was accompanied in Greece by William B. Lacy, UC Davis’s vice provost for outreach and international programs. Among the UC Davis faculty that taught at the university’s study abroad program in Greece was Dr. Aliki Dragona, a Pierce alumna and former member of the DEREE faculty, who is now a lecturer at UC Davis’s university writing program..
