DEREE Announces Student Exchange Program with First European Partner
DEREE - The American College of Greece and Richmond, The American International University of London agreed to a student exchange program and close cooperation on a number of projects. The new agreement allows DEREE undergraduates to spend a semester studying at Richmond and it allows Richmond students to spend a semester at DEREE. Students will pay tuition to their home institutions and housing and fees to the receiving institution.
“This new study abroad program opens a whole new world to DEREE students,” explained Kathleen M. Cross, Chief Technology Officer and Dean of Studies Abroad. “DEREE students will be able to affordably study for a semester in the wonderful city of London on Richmond’s historic campus. And, we are delighted to be partnering with Richmond and we welcome their students to our beautiful campus.”
Beyond the study abroad program, other departments within DEREE will work closely with Richmond faculty and staff. In April, the student government associations of both institutions will hold a joint retreat. Richmond administrators will be visiting DEREE to discuss linkages between undergraduate and graduate programs.
“I think our student leaders will benefit from meeting and working with the student leaders in London,” said John M. Baworowsky, vice president for enrollment & student services. “Both institutions have much in common. Our student leaders want to plan quality programming, they want to motivate their student bodies to be active, and they want to advocate for student issues. I think the joint retreat will be a great opportunity for both organizations to learn from each other.”
The new student exchange program will begin with the Fall 2010 semester. Students interested in studying in London should contact the Office of Study Abroad on the Aghia Paraskevi campus.
