Smart Classrooms

For classroom instruction using multimedia and computer technologies, IRM has developed "smart" classrooms. All classrooms at the DEREE and the Communications buildings, as well as 12 classrooms at the Downtown (DTC) campus are smart.  In Spring 2010, we will be making all classrooms the DTC smart and upgrading many existing smart classrooms.

Smart classrooms are equipped with:

  • PCs hooked-up to ACG’s intranet via which institutional databases and the Internet may be accessed
  • Video/data projectors for large screen projection
  • Video players
  • DVD players
  • Connections for tying laptop computers into the room's presentation system
  • Amplifier with a set of wall speakers

To use a smart classroom, you must first attend a short training session to become familiar with the equipment. Media Center staff assists with technology issues and conducts trainings of smart classroom technology.

Faculty members bear full responsibility for the proper use and safety of the equipment during their classes.
